Parliament committee supports 50% foreign cap in info firms

MOSCOW, Oct 21 (PRIME) -- The constitutional legislation committee at Russia’s Federation Council, the parliament’s upper house, has welcomed the government’s proposal to restrict foreign participation in significant information resources to 50% instead of 20% proposed earlier, the body’s Chairman Andrei Klishas told PRIME on Monday.

“Yes, we support the concept itself of the bill as we said in summer,” Klishas said.

The government supported the bill seeking to limit foreign capital in significant information resources, but said the notch could be set at 50% of voting shares minus one share.
